Events

Over its 16-month lifespan, the following events have established TPC as a vibrant, multi-continental community that is actively working toward aligning large-scale AI strategies, sharing resources, and building a robust ecosystem of tools and methods.

During these gatherings, TPC held training sessions, thematic workshops, plenaries, and breakout sessions for working groups, ensuring a cycle of continuous progress, evaluation, and adjustment.

August 2023

Argonne National Laboratory,
United States

The inaugural TPC workshop attracted approximately 73 in-person and 117 remote participants. They self-organized into initial working groups, laying the groundwork for what would become TPC’s working group structure.

February 2024

SupercomputingAsia,
Sydney, Australia

About 100 TPC participants came together during the SupercomputingAsia conference. Activities included a tutorial on large-scale AI, birds-of-a-feather sessions, and hybrid working group discussions. These sessions enriched collaborative relationships and refined early plans.

May 2024

International Supercomputing Conference,
Hamburg, Germany

A TPC workshop, capped by room capacity at roughly 80 participants, highlighted global AI projects and provided a forum to discuss emerging opportunities and challenges, thus expanding TPC’s visibility in Europe.

June 2024

Barcelona Supercomputing Center,
Barcelona, Spain

Over 190 participants from 16 countries gathered to hold plenary discussions, 12 working group breakouts, and a comprehensive tutorial on AI for Science. This meeting intensified the community’s momentum, set specific collaborative targets, and provided hands-on training.

October 2024

Argonne National Laboratory and The University of Chicago,
United States

Three TPC working groups—focusing on data and training, model architectures and performance, and safety and trust—organized a joint hackathon. Approximately 50 participants attended in person, with additional remote participants, making substantial progress on shared tasks.

November 2024

Supercomputing 2024,
Atlanta, United States

Approximately 200 participants joined a TPC workshop that showcased multi-institutional collaborative projects and updates on community efforts. From a call for extended abstracts, 12 were chosen for presentation out of 33 submissions. Concurrently, European TPC leaders met to explore new funding support from the European Commission, aiming to strengthen the consortium’s global reach.
